Ironworkers Training

At Local 97, we have a long history of helping people with no experience get the training and skills they need to be safe and successful in this industry.

For those wanting to enter the trade with no experience, we recommend taking the Ironworker Foundation program at BCIT. This program offers a comprehensive overview of the trade and puts students to work practicing the skills and using the tools they will need in the field. With extensive opportunities for practice, this program lives up to its name by giving you the foundation you need for a career as an ironworker.
ronworkers Local 97 can also deliver an Intro to Rebar training course for students interested in pursuing a career and obtaining employment in the construction industry.

The course is over two weeks. The first week of training will take place during Spring Break and the second week of training is scheduled to be held during the first week of July. All training will be delivered at the Ironworkers’ training hall in Maple Ridge.

There is no cost for the training, but participants will need to have steel toe boots and work clothes.

Preference is given to students in grade 12, but grade 11 students are welcome to apply. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older.
